MGM Grand Hotel & Casino & Theme Park
The first mega project on the Las Vegas strip, the MGM Grand Hotel project set a standard for a fast-track delivery with a diverse range of elements, which involved the extensive use of precast concrete, making this project the world’s largest precast project. This project was contracted as a design-assist project with Taylor International representing the owner as the managing contractor. Tower construction was completed in 9 1/2 months -- two months ahead of schedule. The owner’s project schedule for the entire 112-acre, $1-billion complex - including the four-winged hotel and casino, sports arena, theme park and 5,000-car parking structure - required completion in 27 months from the placing of the foundations. The facility opened in December 1993, three months ahead of the planned March 1994 opening.
